B. Indonesia Kentang, Telur, dan Biji Kopi Ada seorang anak yang mengeluh kepada ayahnya bahwa hidupnya menderita. Dia tidak tahu harus bagaimana lagi. Dia lelah terus berjuang setiap saat. Sepertinya masalah tidak ada habisnya, silih berganti datang. Satu masalah selesai muncul lagi masalah lainnya. Sang ayah, seorang juru masak, membawanya ke dapur. Dia mengisi tiga panci dengan air dan meletakkannya di atas api. Setelah air dalam ketiga panci itu mulai mendidih, dia meletakkan kentang di panci pertama, telur di panci kedua, dan bubuk kopi di panci ketiga. Kemudian duduk kembali dan menunggu tanpa berkata sepatahpun kepada putrinya. Sang anak menggerutu dan menunggu tidak sabar, menduga-duga yang dikerjakan ayahnya. Setelah 20 menit dia mematikan api. Dia mengambil kentang dan meletakkannya ke dalam mangkuk. Dia mengambil telur dan meletakkannya ke dalam mangkuk. Setelah itu mengambil rebusan air kopi dan dimasukkan ke dalam cangkir. Dia menoleh ke putrinya dan bertanya. "Nak, apa yang kamu lihat?" "Kentang, telur, dan kopi", dia cepat menjawab. "Lihat lebih cermat", kata ayahnya, "pegang kentang itu." Sang anak melakukannya dan kentangnya sudah empuk. Kemudian dia diminta mengupas telur, dia mengamati telur rebusnya keras. Akhirnya dia diminta menghirup aroma kopi yang harum hingga membuatnya tersenyum. "Ayah, apa maksud semua ini?" tanyanya. Sang ayah kemudian menjelaskan bahwa kentang, telur, dan kopi menghadapi tantangan yang sama, air mendidih. Namun, masing-masing bereaksi berbeda. Kentang yang keras setelah masuk ke dalam air mendidih berubah menjadi lembut dan lemah. Telur yang rapuh yang hanya dilapisi cangkang tipis saat dimasukkan ke dalam air mendidih isi telur berubah menjadi keras. Yang unik adalah gilingan biji kopi. Setelah dimasukkan ke dalam air mendidih, mengubah air menjadi sesuatu yang baru. "Yang mana kamu?" tanyanya kepada putrinya. "Saat tantangan dan kesulitan mengetuk pintumu, bagaimana tanggapanmu? Apakah kamu kentang, telur, atau biji kopi?" Anakku, dalam hidup ini segala sesuatu terjadi di sekitar kita. hal-hal terjadi menimpa kita. Akan tetapi, kita lah yang menentukan akan menjadi apa, menjadi lebih lemah, lebih kuat, atau menjadi sesuatu yang baru? kamu pilih yang mana?
